French Knot
The French knot creates a neat, symmetrical detail at the collar. The scarf stays narrow, wraps around the neck and its short points are tucked beneath the collar.
What you will need
- a 90 × 90 cm square silk scarf
- a shirt or top with a collar
- Time: about 2 minutes
Step-by-step instructions
- Fold the scarf into a band. Fold the scarf in half and continue folding it lengthwise until you have an even, narrow band.
- Wrap it around your neck. Place the centre of the band at the front of your neck, take the ends behind, cross them and bring them forward again.
- Even the lengths. Adjust the two front ends so they are approximately the same length.
- Tie a double knot. Join the ends beneath your chin with a double knot and centre it gently.
- Tuck away the points. Tuck the short ends beneath the collar on both sides and smooth the visible part of the scarf.
Tip
For a smaller knot, fold the scarf into a narrower band. Adjust the collar last so it hides both ends evenly.
